Both my parents wore hearing aids except they went the expensive route and got hearing tests and paid thousands of dollars for custom made aids. And that is the way you’re supposed to do it. An expert can ensure you don’t have any underlying problems with your hearing.
But (being rebellious) I didn’t want to do that. I just wanted to hear a bit better. No fuss, no bother, just hear better.
I think going to a specialist seemed too much like acknowledging the fact that I was growing older. I’m in my fifties but I don’t feel old. I didn’t want a reminder that the years were passing.
But I was forever asking my husband to repeat things and it seemed as if every month I turned the television up louder! I’m sure you can relate to it.
So Chloe’s Hearing Aid Shop is my personal journey through choosing and learning to live with a hearing aid.
